Last term we were told to read this text called driving us in to the future. So this term we wrote a TIP chart on the text and a summary on it. Here is my opinion on electric cars.I think that electric car are cool because they help the planet and they look pretty! But they don't come in four wheel drive and we use a four wheel drive all the time on the beach. So unless we are told to get an electric car we will probably never get one.
Below is my Summary of the article we read and my TIP Chart.
This article is about..the pros and cons of electric cars and fuel cars.
Electric cars do not produce greenhouse gases compared to fuel cars with their exhaust fumes. The electric cars are cheaper to run and when the need to be recharged they have a charging station but they take six to eight hours to fully charge unless you have a rapid charging station. If you have a hybrid then you can decided if you want to drive an electric or a fuel witch lowers your greenhouse gas emission.
Term | Information | Picture |
electric cars | cars that run on electricity not fuel. |
exhaust fumes | electric cars don’t have exhaust fumes because they run on electricity. |
crankshaft | A crankshaft turns the car wheels. |
greenhouse gases | gases that come in the atmosphere and capture heat making global warming and climate change. |
battery | battery has stored power making the car run. |
charging station | A thing for an electric car to charge at. |
electric motor | The electric motor converts electric energy to kinetic energy to move the car forwards.
power point | When all the battery’s stored chemical energy has been used up, it needs to be recharged before it can power the car again. The car’s battery is charged by plugging it into an electric power point (as you do with a cellphone battery).
kinetic energy | is movement energy |
fuel | Petrol and diesel contain stored chemical energy. which run the car |
hybrid | Are combined electric and fuel powered |
recharged | Electric cars need to be recharged once the stored energy is run out. you do this by plugging it in. |
